S&R FARMACEUTICI ARRIVES IN CAPRI TO SUPPORT WOMEN’S HEALTH

Three days dedicated to the discussion of different knowledge from the academic and hospital worlds- The company based in Bastia Umbra was the main sponsor of the 8th interactive obstetrics and gynaecology course

S&R Farmaceutici spa once more by the side of women. The company from Bastia Umbra that commercialises proprietary and licensed pharmaceuticals in the areas of gynaecology and urology, was present in Capri from 10th to 12th May, in support of the 8th Interactive obstetrics and gynaecology course, attended by surgeons and biologists from all over Italy, who met to discuss “women’s health between scientific findings and new treatment opportunities.’

The primary goal of the course, under the scientific direction of Fabio Sirimarco, with Antonio Chiàntera as its president, was to optimise diagnostic-treatment paths for a better quality of life for women, by means of discussing different knowledge from the academic and hospital worlds, with focus on interactive discussion among participants. The turn out to the event at the La Residenza hotel was impressive: general surgeons, gynaecologists, obstetricians, neonatologists, oncologists, paediatricians, urologists, andrologists and anaesthetists, all attended to listen internationally acclaimed speakers.

Different topics were covered, from the importance of the ‘visceral Brain’, covered by prof. Alessandra Graziottin, director of the San Raffaele Resnati gynaecology centre, Milan, to ‘Microbiota and maternal-foetal health’ with Roberto Di Giorgio, professor of internal medicine at the University of Ferrara and ‘Reflections on the management of polycystic ovary syndrome (Pcos)’ with Giuseppe D’Amato, clinical director of the assisted reproduction operative unit, Bari, and ‘Menopausal transition and treatment options’, with Costantino Di Carlo, professor of gynaecology and obstetrics at the University of Catanzaro. In the second of three sessions, Luigi Cobellis, senior fellow of obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Campania, ‘Luigi Vanvitelli’ Hospital of Caserta spoke, as did Giuseppe Bifulco, tenured professor of gynaecology and obstetrics at the Federico II University, Naples.

Lastly, a company dinner celebrated three years of business of S&R Farmaceutici, together with employees and special guests in the splendid setting of Hotel Quisisiana. Romolo Rossi, Mauro Dionigi and Lucio Leonardi were among those present, respectively the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of S&R. Mr. Dionigi remarked how “This is the third year we have participated as the main sponsor of the event and it is very important to us because topics close to the company’s core business are discussed. It was also an opportunity to present a fertility product we will launch in September and I noticed that despite providing limited details on it, interest in the hall was very high. In addition to gynaecology we are also investing in urology, with a diagnostic index, iXip, useful for distinguishing between prostate cancer and other benign pathologies, thus avoiding unnecessary biopsies”.

Women’s and men’s health are both at the centre of the Bastia Umbra-based company’s interests which according to investor forecasts is set to achieve thirteen million euros in turnover by 2018. Mr. Dionigi added “In addition to the implementation of product of our medical formulary, we’ll need to focus on the acquisition of new tools for the development of what we call the ‘last mile’, namely contact between doctors and our pharmaceutical representatives”. Dionigi concluded that “The conditions are in place, we have 70 professionals deployed nationwide and are continuing to grow. Lastly, we have doubled the surface area of our office premises to 600 sqm. We have also acquired around 40 thousand square metres of land where we will build a centre of around 20 thousand square metres with a latest-generation thermo-assisted logistics centre and an area for hosting doctors who are our guests. Last year alone we hosted around 1200 doctors who together with their respective partners or relatives meant that around 2500 people stayed in Umbria, generating significant opportunities for catering and hospitality companies”. Other excellent news regarding the new headquarters includes a collaboration with the chef Gianfranco Vissani, a reference person for conventions organised by S&R Farmaceutici.
