For S&R SUCCESS ALSO SPEAKS SPANISH: AWARD IN VALENCIA

‘Genante’ is the best biotechnology product according to the ‘European biotechnology congress’ – a Nutraceutical product containing resveratrol that acts on the fertility of couples. Developed in conjunction with the Department of chemistry, biology and biotechnology of Unipg

For S&R Farmaceutici satisfaction also comes from Spain. At the ‘European biotechnology congress’ in Valencia, an international congress dedicated to biotechnologies, attended by dozens of companies, researchers and professionals from different clinical fields, the company from Bastia Umbra earned recognition for its ‘Genante’, which was awarded the Best biotechnology product award 2019.

The result came after over a year of study in synergy between the Research & Development division of S&R Farmaceutici and the Department of chemistry, biology and biotechnologies of the university of Perugia, with whom the company in Bastia Umbra signed a specific framework agreement as part of a more extensive collaboration undertaken in 2012.

The latest in a long line of successful endeavours was shared with the entire ‘speciality’ sales network on occasion of the second annual meeting, also attended by pharmaceutical representatives from all over the country. It was presented by the researchers Bernard Fioretti, scientific director of the Unipg and S&R Farmaceutici partnership and Rossana Ianitti, medical science liaison for S&R Farmaceutici.

Fioretti explained that “Genante is a nutraceutical formulation that contains resveratrol, supported by magnesium hydroxide and which helps to improve the fertility of couples. It is the result of a product we created in 2012 but in this case we developed it to improve female fertility, acting on the cell of granulosa, involved in the folliculogenesis process, a process that prepares the oocyte for fertilisation. Resveratrol, a polyphenol, has an important effect on cell energetics, on mitochondrial physiology in particular, which works better in the presence of resveratrol. The nutraceutical substance also works on men, making it highly interesting”.

Fioretti added “The Commission that examined Genante consisted of five international acclaimed members. I am delighted that we have received recognition for the meticulous and tireless work we have pursued. Undoubtedly they took into account scientific solidity and industrial feasibility, because the product mustn’t remain in the laboratory, it needs to get out there on the market, as well as the fact that it acts on a widespread social problem in the West, fertility. I would like to thank the clinicians who assisted us, professor Sandro Gerli, the research group of five professionals including molecular and cellular biologists, Rossana Iannitti and Lucio Leonardi, General Manager of S&R Farmaceutici , also a biologist, as without his ‘vision’ all this would never have been possible”.

Iannitti declared “Winning this award makes us proud but also gives us an idea of the scientific community’s approval and interest from the international medical world. The next step will be to launch the product on a national and then an international level”.
